KINABALU: The intrusion in Lahad Datu will not affect the 13th General
Election (13GE) as police have enough manpower for all nomination
centres in Sabah.State police administration head SAC II Noor Azam Jamaludin said more than 6,000 police officers and personnel from various departments, including the Air Police, Marine Police and the General Operation Force (GOF) would be involved in the 13GE.
“We have enough manpower (for the 13GE) as the Police Volunteer Reserve (PVR) and other relevant government departments will also be involved in assisting the police.
“So I would like to remind the public not to worry (while casting their votes) as police will be present to uphold security and monitor the whole situation during the election,” he said at a press conference here on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Noor Azam also reminded all parties involved in election to abide by the rules set out.
“All party candidates from their respective districts must get permit from the district police chief before organising any ceramah for their campaign,” he said.
He also urged all candidates
to remind their party members and supporters not to be excited during
the campaign period which could led to provocation or unwanted incident.
