Sarawak DAP today issued letters of authorisation from both DAP and PAS to seven candidates this afternoon while waiting for PKR to send theirs.

DAP has decided that their candidates in Sabah and Sarawak will  contest under PKR's ticket if the Registrar of Societies (ROS) refused to revoke its letter on not recognising the party’s central executive committee.

NONEPAS had "worked overtime" to send the letters of authorisation to the DAP headquarters in Kuala Lumpur by 4.30am today, which arrived in Sibu (later) this morning, according to Sarawak DAP chief Wong Ho Leng.

"PKR did not work overtime last night, (although) we heard from  party staff that they had received the letters by 4.30am today," he said.

Wong (right) later handed over both the DAP and PAS authorisation letters to the party candidates.

He added that if the party had decided by 3pm today that DAP would not contest under its ticket, then candidates in Sarawak will stand under PKR's ticket as had been directed by the its central leadership.

However, those in remote seats who could not be reached by  air - and are difficult to travel to - might contest under PAS’ ticket, if PKR’s  letters does not reach them in time, he said.

It is noted that DAP's Kapit candidate Ramli Malaka had received authorisation letters from both DAP and PAS, and had taken the last boat back to Kapit by 1.45pm.

Meanwhile, Lawas candidate Baru Langub’s daughter had accepted the letters on behalf of her father and has since travelled home.

Meanwhile, Sabah DAP election director Fred Fung said that the authorisation letters by PKR for its candidates are already on the way from Kuala Lumpur.

“We have people standing by in Kota Kinabalu now to collect the letter and take it to our candidates in Sandakan and Melalap,” he said when contacted.

Sandakan and Melalap are 319km and 157km away from Kota Kinabalu respectively.

All DAP candidates in Johor also received authorisation letters from both PAS and DAP this afternoon in Skudai.

The letters were handed over by state chief Dr Boo Cheng Hau.
